Context & Challenge
Building From Zero
Escape wanted to launch its first ambassador and creator ecosystem — no existing system, no precedent.
The Challenge
Design a platform supporting two distinct user roles. Influencers and Content Creators while keeping the experience clear, scalable, and trustworthy.
The Opportunity
Build a complete flow from scratch: onboarding, eligibility checks, role selection, and a scalable reward structure that grows with the community.
Context & Ecosystem
🚀 Launch Goal
Escape's first Ambassador & Creator Program app built entirely from scratch.
🏗️ No Existing System
Complete flow needed: onboarding, eligibility, role selection, and scalable structure.
👥 Two Distinct Roles
Influencers and Content Creators each with unique needs, payouts, and journeys.
Problem Statement
The Core Design Questions
1
1
Clarity of Pathways
How do we help users quickly understand which role fits them?
2
2
Eligibility Transparency
How do we surface requirements without overwhelming new users?
3
3
Scalable Structure
How do we build so future roles can plug in seamlessly?
4
4
Motivational Storytelling
How do we make earning feel exciting and achievable from day one?
5
5
Empowerment & Growth
How do we make ambassadors feel unique yet aligned with Escape's brand?

What Users Said
"I don't know which program fits me."
"I want to understand rewards before signing up."
"I need transparency around requirements."
Unclear Role Selection
Users couldn't differentiate Influencer vs. Creator paths.
Hidden Eligibility
Requirements surfaced too late in the flow.
Onboarding Friction
Too many steps before users saw value.
No Progress Visibility
Users had no sense of how far they'd come.

Problem Framing
How Might We…
1
Clarify Paths
How might we help users quickly understand which path fits them?
2
Reduce Uncertainty
How might we reduce uncertainty during onboarding?
3
Motivate Clearly
How might we create motivation while preserving clarity?
4
Scale Gracefully
How might we design so new roles plug in without redesign?
Design Goals
Four Goals That Guided Every Decision
Create Gated Pathways
Two flows. One tailored experience each.
Build Modular Onboarding
Eligibility checks embedded naturally into the flow.
Infuse Brand Storytelling
Mission-driven visuals, indigo palette.
Design for Scale
Future roles can plug into the system without redesign.
Information Architecture
Onboarding Architecture
A clean branching flow from entry to personalized dashboard — built for two distinct user types.
Every step was designed to reduce drop-off and surface value before asking for commitment.
Sitemap & Flow Diagrams
The branching architecture ensures each role feels purpose-built while sharing a consistent structural backbone.
Design Exploration
From Sketches to Structure
V1 — Sketches
Rough flows exploring role selection and eligibility placement.
V2 — Lo-Fi Wireframes
Structured screens with placeholder content and basic hierarchy.
V3 — Mid-Fi Iteration
Refined layouts after first round of user feedback.
V4 — Hi-Fi Prototype
Final polished screens with Escape brand system applied.
Key Design Decisions
Problem
Users couldn't differentiate Influencer vs. Creator at role selection.
Hypothesis
A side-by-side comparison card with clear benefit language would reduce confusion.
Decision
Added "Compare Programs" screen with payout, flexibility, and focus metrics.
Outcome
Role selection confidence increased significantly in usability testing.
Wireframes & Flow
Forgot Password Flow
A clear, low-friction recovery flow with illustrated states for each step.

Step 1: Enter email or mobile to receive reset instructions.

Step 2: Create a new password meeting security requirements.

Password reset confirmed with a clear success state reducing support tickets and user anxiety.
Onboarding
Progressive form
Sign Up & Social Profiles
Onboarding collects social handles and mailing details in a single, progressive form.

Social Profiles Collected
  • Facebook profile URL
  • Instagram handle
  • YouTube channel URL
  • TikTok username
Mailing Address
  • Street address
  • State & postal code
  • Country selection
  • Terms & Privacy agreement

Usability Insights
Role Differentiation Confusion
Users struggled to distinguish Influencer vs. Creator without a direct comparison.
Overlooked Requirements
Eligibility criteria were missed when buried in body text.
Progress Visibility Gap
Users wanted clearer indicators of how far they'd progressed in onboarding.
Final Design
App Splash & Program Selection
Choose Your Program clear role cards with benefit highlights and a "Compare" escape hatch.
Compare Programs side-by-side payout, flexibility, and focus comparison.
Content Creator Program Screen
Social Proof at Top
100K+ creators and $2,384+ paid out builds trust immediately.
Category Clarity
Six wellness content categories help creators self-identify quickly.
Testimonial + Steps
Alex Gering's 5-star quote followed by a 4-step "How to Get Started" flow.

Ambassador vs. Affiliate Dashboard

Both dashboards share the same structural backbone only the tier color and reward logic differ, enabling scalable role expansion.
Bronze Ambassador : progress bar to Silver, $1,380+ potential, weekly content upload prompt.
Affiliate :no contract, $1,010+ potential, referral link with real-time click tracking.

Learnings and Outcome
This project proved that scalable design starts with clarity not complexity.
Reflection
What I Learned
"Designing for growth is more about reducing uncertainty than adding features."
What Worked
Clear flows and role differentiation built trust quickly. The modular structure paid off immediately.
What I Learned
Designing from scratch means balancing freedom with structure and building brand values into every touchpoint.
What I'd Improve
Earlier usability testing on role selection would have saved a full iteration cycle.
Future Opportunities
AI role recommendations, gamified milestones, and community leaderboards.
